Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician

Archetype Undersea is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the development, prototyping, testing, and production of advanced underwater systems. This role combines hands-on manufacturing with design and engineering support. The successful candidate will help transform concepts into field-ready products by creating CAD models, developing prototypes, solving manufacturing challenges, and supporting production efforts from concept through final assembly.

Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development
    • Create and modify 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings
    • Support product development from concept through production
    • Design fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids
    • Collaborate with engineers on prototype development and product improvements
    • Assist in design reviews, manufacturability assessments, and root-cause analysis
  • Manufacturing & Assembly
    • Assemble electro-mechanical systems and prototypes
    • Perform advanced wiring, soldering, and connector assembly
    • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and validation of systems
    • Perform and document factory acceptance testing
    • Support vacuum/pressure casting operations
    • Operate manual and CNC machine tools as needed
  • Production Support
    • Develop and improve assembly procedures and work instructions
    • Train junior technicians
    • Drive quality improvements and manufacturing efficiency initiatives
    • Maintain documentation and configuration control

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of electro-mechanical manufacturing, prototyping, or product development experience
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to create manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly practices
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, wiring, and testing of electronic systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on concrete floors for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for precision assembly work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to wear required PPE

Preferred:

  • CNC machining and CAM programming experience
  • TIG welding experience
  • 3D printing experience
  • Microcontroller experience (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32, etc.)
  • Composite manufacturing experience
  • Industrial sewing experience
  • Experience supporting prototype-to-production transitions
  • Experience in marine, defense, aerospace, robotics, or unmanned systems industries

Compensation and Benefits:

We seek the best-and-brightest professionals at all levels so offer highly competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000. Salary ranges reflect compensation for qualified candidates across a range of experience levels and are flexible; actual salary will be determined based on demonstrated skills, experience, and performance.

Company-sponsored benefits include: 6% 401(k) company match with immediate vesting, educational assistance up to $7,000 per year, 100% insurance premium subsidy for employees (75% for dependents), Anthem medical, Guardian dental, life and disability coverage, 3 weeks’ vacation, 2 weeks sick leave, and 11 holidays.
